At the heart of Allegiance is the idea that, no matter what terrible events have transpired, no matter how desperate or awful things have been in times past, it’s never too late to have a second chance to love, a second chance to hope, and a second chance to make things right.

In this video, Lea Salonga performs an early iteration of the song before long-time supporters of the show in Honolulu, Hawaii at a reception held by host and Allegiance co-producer, Mark Mugiishi.  Second Chances closes the show and brings a message of hope to Old Sam, played by George Takei, even in the twilight of his life.  The lyrics to the song have since developed and changed, but the heart of the message remains the same.
