The count down has begun. We are 7 days before our first preview of ALLEGIANCE. 7 Days before the WORLD PREMIERE of this beautiful show that we’ve all been working on for several years now. I first joined the ALLEGIANCE family on February of 2010, and I will never forget that first day of rehearsal for the first New York reading of the show, and walking into the room and being greeted by a familiar face… and feeling great calm. That familiar face was STAFFORD ARIMA, the director. It was his first day of rehearsal, too.
It’s been an extremely competitive year on Broadway. When the Tony Award nominations were announced in May of this year, EVERY SINGLE THEATER on Broadway had a tenant. That is a rare occurrence, and it’s a wonderful sign that Broadway is NOT dead – that the American theater is thriving and healthy, even in this questionable economy.
But, it also meant that the competition was stiff for those coveted Tony nomination slots – and Godspell was SHUT OUT of the nominations this year. We didn’t receive a single nod.
It’s been a VERY busy few weeks for me. My cast mates and I over at GODSPELL have been incredibly busy – doing press performances on THE VIEW, and ROSIE (more on that later…) and doing press for our upcoming cast recording on Sh-K-Boom records.
Hi gang. Welcome to my first venture into the blogosphere! Now – I’ve done quite a bit of video blogging for other projects I’ve been a part of (like RENT and GODSPELL, which I’m currently performing in 8-times-a-week at the Circle in the Square Theater on Broadway) – but an actual written BLOG?! That’s new territory. Immediately, I was nervous. “Do I have anything to say? Who will read my random musings? Does anyone care? What if I sounds stupid?” But, I’m putting myself on “the line” (like Paul, Cassie, and Sheila did in A CHORUS LINE) and taking a stab at something NEW.

Excited
As we count the days to the premiere of Allegiance, I am thankful and excited for every minute of the process - yes... even the stressful ones.

MY TONY MEMORY of 2012 and MY “SHOW WIFE”
As a curtain falls on the Tony Awards I want to share my favorite memory from the night, but first some back story....

COUNTING MY BLESSINGS
Inspired by Irving Berlin, some Tony talk, and learning how to "prepare ye" in your heart for whatever comes...
One of my favorite Irving Berlin lyrics:
Happy New Year!
Here’s to a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2012.
Broadway Bulls
Broadway is NOT easy. Broadway is hard. Eight-shows a week is hard. It's hard on the body. It's hard on the voice. Your knees hurt. Your back spasms. But there is nothing quite like doing a Broadway show.
It’s been a VERY busy few weeks for me. My cast mates and I over at GODSPELL have been incredibly busy – doing press performances on THE VIEW, and ROSIE (more on that later…) and doing press for our upcoming cast recording on Sh-K-Boom records.
Strong & Wrong
It is in the FAILURE, and the process of getting up, dusting off your knees and trying again and again, that we learn and grow.
