I Haven’t Got a Prayer
Allie Trimm
A fan favorite, I Haven’t Got A Prayer - sung by Allie Trimm - was originally conceived as a confessional of a young girl, Hannah, who is discovering her feelings for Sam, an internee boy at Heart Mountain Relocation Center, where her father serves as camp director. Allie performed the original version of this song at a screening of the October 2010 reading, held in Louisville, KY at the home of Allegiance co-producer Brad Calobrace.
Over the course of the development of Allegiance, this song evolved, from its original moment, to a more mature version: an exchange between Hannah, and her mother Lily, to convince her that her feelings for Sam are real, and despite the disapproval of the world, that she would always love Sam anyway.
